Fourth Floor Restaurant - Leeds

For our 1st wedding anniversary this weekend myself and the Husband went to Fourth Floor Restaurant, on the fourth floor of Harvey Nichols in Leeds.

It's the second time we have been, first time was so amazing that we were looking forward to our return visit all week. We were not disappointed. The food here is amazing, with a fantastic balance of flavours and ingredients and impeccable service.

We started the evening in the bar, a cosmopolitan for me and a mojito for the husband, both perfect and artistically done. Moving through to the restaurant I mentioned to the waiter that I was gluten free, but I thought the items I had chosen from the menu should be fine, and he confirmed this. We were brought a little 'amuse bouche', the husbands a teeny little potted prawn toast, and special one just for me of feta and olives in a herb dressing, yay! I started properly with a thai dressed shredded chicken salad, which included lovely marinated cucumber strips, baby spinach and a minty dressing. Mark was equally impressed with his marinated pork and bok choi starter.

For mains I plumped for the dover sole, in a cream sauce, with buttered samphire, and some braised fennel on the side. The sole was huge and succulent, the samphire was delightfully salty and crunchy and the fennel perfect. Husband had organic free range lamb, with baby turnips and some sort of little frittas, with a side of the best chips and aioli you can get your hands on. He gobbled his up with gusto so it must of been good.

So, with just enough room for a fantastic dessert I enquired what would be ok for myself, the waiter was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what I could have, and also checked with the chef what could be altered for me. I was left with too many options for once, and ordered an amazing Coconut Bavrois with Mango, which I'm off to search for a recipe now! The husband had a chocolate and pine nut tart which he stated went amazingly well together, with a fresh pink ruby orange sorbet on the side. Hes got a thing for orange flavour sorbet and ice cream, so i think we are going to invest in an ice cream maker.

We signed up for their 'Eat' card while we were there, which is £10, but means you can order wine at wine shop prices (the wine shop is on the same floor). So our bottle of champers was a bargain, even with the price of the card factored in.
A fantastic night, lovely food, great champagne and the waiters are so nice, I even had a chat with one about my tomatoes I'm growing, apparently if we don't get any more sunshine to ripen them I can make a nice green tomato chutney with them, watch out for the recipe!
