Growing Tomatoes
This year I have grown my own Tomatoes. I bought a 'vegetable/tomato' grow bag, a cheap plastic grow bag tent greenhouse thing, three grow pots, some twine, three long canes, some tomato food and three tomato plants. I would recommend the grow pots, they are like flowerpots with no bottom and two walls, and they push into the grow bag cutting their own hole as they go, makes watering and planting very easy. The tent thing is by Guardman and is fine for the price. Its very flimsy and the cover has broken now, but I can get a new one of those, its best attached to the wall.
I chose three types of tomatoes, a standard one a cherry one and plum tomatoes. The standard and cherry ones were fine, but the plum was a bushy one and got a bit rampant. All have made loads of lovely tomatoes. It's a bit of a faff growing them, you have to pinch out incorrect growth and things to make sure you get tomatoes and not just loads of leaves, but it has been worth it for the very lovely red tasty tomatoes.
Anyway, I just posted this so I can show you my lovely tomatoes! Maybe I will post a few recipes later, at the moment we have just been having lots of lovely tomato or greek salads and tonight some will be going in the baked paella recipe we love, that I have posted before.
