Jamie in my Home

Some people don't like Jamie Oliver, several people I know dislike him so much they wont consider buying his cook books. I think that's a big shame, his Cook with Jamie book is a great read for anyone who wants to learn the basics of cooking, and also learn how to combine flavours and foods for themselves, essential for those days when the fridge contents are a bit random. Jamie's Italy is a pasta heavy but good looking book, and a simple introduction to Italian food. A perfect gift for a new cook would be Cook with Jamie and Nigella Lawson's How to Eat.

I recently bought Jamie at Home and this one is fast becoming my favourite. So far from the book we have cooked mushroom risotto (amazing lemon flavours in this one), stroganoff (but with chicken), sausage and tomato stew (great with jacket potatoes) and the husband made me the amazing pork goulash one evening.

This week we are having a go at the gammon hot pot that looks so yummy.

Hi I admit to being in the 'Oh not Jamie again' camp. However I do like a number of his recipes which I glean from the Food magazines as I can't take his affected blokey writing style.

I came across this site by accident but am so glad that I did.
